MANGA STUDIO 3 è il nuovo software per disegnare fumetti distibuito da e-frontiers derivato dal giapponese Comic-studio di Celsys. E’ disponibile in due pacchetti: Debut per principianti ed EX per esperti.
Avendo utilizzato per due anni Deleter Comicworks posso dire che la differenza che passa tra questo e Mangastudio 3 è come tra il Paint di Windows e Photoshop
Ho provato entrambe le versioni di mangastudio: dalla tabella comparativa parrebbe mancare pochissimo alla Debut rispetto all’EX ma sono alcune funzioni fondamentali di quest’ultima a fare la differenza nella realizzazione di un fumetto a computer pertanto vi parlerò solo della migliore.

MangaStudio EX offre una gran quantità di strumenti per dipingere ispirati alle tecniche tradizionali giapponesi oltre ai comuni tools grafici. Come Comicworks ha la preziosissima funzione di correzione del tremolio, fondamentale per inchiostrare con fluidità e imitare l’effetto pennellata.

Un’altra funzione importante di Manga Studio EX è Word Baloons. Una volta imparato come utilizzarla, mi sono sentita estremamente sollevata
Per quanto mi riguarda, ne ho creati delle forme che più mi piacevano come oggetti vettoriali (quelli predefiniti sono orribili) e quando inserisco il testo scelgo comodamente la forma più indicata. Si può addirittura aggiungere la “coda” al fumetto!

I retini: a quanto pare ce ne sono più di 3000. Grazie allo strumento che crea le selezioni (dipingendole in verde) sono facili da inserire ed altrettanto facile è cambiarli in quanto non bisogna rifare i passaggi ma solo scegliere di “sostituire il retino” perchè ognuno di loro crea in automatico un livello vettoriale. Per evitare la confusione di decine di livelli insieme è possibile raggruppare gli stessi in cartelle (come i file psb di photoshop). Unico neo è l’anteprima non realistica della pagina che costringe a salvare provvisoriamente in png e dare un’occhiata con un altro sofware, Photoshop ad esempio.Un altro modo per stendere piccole porzioni di retino con facilità è la “bomboletta spray” che può essere programmata per spruzzare porzioni di retino nero, bianco o trasparente. Quest’ultima modalità è utilissima per cancellare “sfumando” in opposizione alla cancellatura netta della gomma.

Manga Studio Ex non è solo un’applicazione per disegnare fumetti ma offre anche un’ utilissima funzione di impaginazione della pagina così come del progetto completo, come InDesign e Xpress. L’esportazione comprende i più comuni formati grafici (Jpg, Bmp, Png, Tga, Pic e Tiff) ma anche PSD e PDF. Per quanto riguarda l’esportazione per il web invece è ancora imperfetto come Comicworks e mi costringe ad adattarle in Photohop.

In conclusione consiglio vivamente questo software a chi fa fumetti ed è dotato di monitor grande (ci sono molte finestre da tenere visibili), tavoletta grafica e un po’ di pazienza perchè all’inizio non è molto intuitivo.

Debut for beginners, and Ex for experts.
Having used Deleter Comicworks or two years myself, I can easily say that it’s like comparing Windows’ Paint and Adobe Photoshop…
I’ve tried both versions of this application: from the comparison chart you can see very few differences between the Debut and the Ex verson, but some of the latter’s functionalities give it an edge over its minor release, therefore I will be rewieving the Ex version.

MangaStudioEx offers a wide quantity of drawing instruments, inspired by traditional Japanese techniques, which are offered alongside the classic graphic tools.
Just as seen in Comicworks, it has the fundamental function of shaking reduction, indispensable for inking smoothly and avoiding the brush effect.

Another important tool in Manga Studio Ex is WORD BALOONS. Once I learnt using it, I felt extremely relieved. As far as I’m concerned, I’ve created some in the most various shapes, from vectorial objects (the predefined options are terrible), and when I insert text I can easily pick the most suitable. You can also add the tail to the baloon!

SCREENTONESapparently there are more than 3000 of them to choose from. They are easy to apply with a selection tool that highlights it in green, and extremely easy to change, every tone creating its own level, which can be grouped into folders just as with psb Photoshop files. The only drawback is the unrealistic preview of the page, forcing you to save the image as png and previewing it with a third part application such as Photoshop.Another way to lay small portion
of tones is by using the spray can, programmable to apply portions of black, white or transparent tone. This last option is very useful to cancel with a little smudge, instead of the sharp effect of the eraser..

Manga Studio Ex is not only a comic drawing application, but it offers a great page and project layout functions, just as in InDesign and Xpress. Exporting images is possible in all of the most common formats (Jpg, Bmp, Png, Tga, Pic and Tiff), but also PSD and PDF.
Exporting for the web is still not perfect, just as for Comicworks: it is advisable to adapt the images using Photoshop.

In conclusion I recommend this software to comicartis with a large monitor (there are many windows), gaphic tablet and .. some patience because it’s not an intuitive software.

Ieri la nostra preziosissima sceneggiatrice si è laureata in archeologia con un bel 107 facendoci tutti molto felici e illuminandoci circa un campo archeologico di sassetti preistorici in veneto. I upgraded wordpress to 2.03 but the Markdown plugin hiding the content of the posts

Stamattina ho aggiornato wordpress alla 2.03 ma la plugin Markdown mi oscurava il contenuto dei post (causandomi crisi isteriche). Non mi aspettavo di dover dubitare proprio di una plugin di default!

Questo post non c’entra con Nelshael ma sono così contenta di aver finalmente fotografato il Frigonz! Questo è il frigo di Frida per il quale ho realizzato un’enorme illustrazione che poi è stata stampata su acetato adesivo e appiccicato con molta cura da Frida. Non vi dico lo sforzo del mac per dipingere un’immagine così, dupalle!
Ma ne è valsa la pena e sono contenta che frida abbia insistito tanto altrimenti non l’avrei mai fatto. E vi assicuro che aumenta un bel po’ l’ego vedere una propria opera realizzata in grande! E’ persino spuntato il sole su Cremona
